Visit to the Mount Washington Observatory

We had a team from our Community Engagement Committee and our Grant Distribution Committee visit the Mount Washington Observatory on Thursday, Sept 3. It was a spectacular way to see first hand how they use our funds to expose children in the Lakes Region area to all that they offer. The Mount Washington Observatory is a private, nonprofit, member-supported institution with a mission to advance understanding of the natural systems that create Earth’s weather and climate.

The support from the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Fund enables local schools to work with Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS) educators and scientists to learn first-hand about our region’s weather and climate, and the scientific skills needed to explore our natural world. MWOBS educators travel to Greater Lakes Region Schools with hands-on learning experiences and optionally culminate in a summit visit to the Observatory’s weather station on New England’s highest peak.
