Franklin Savings Bank has pledged $5,000 to become the Presenting Sponsor for the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Fund’s Christmas in July event on the M/S Mount Washington this summer.

A longtime supporter of the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction, which recently rebranded as the Children’s Fund, the bank served as the Presenting Sponsor for several of the organization’s Evening of Broadway events. 

In 2025, Franklin Savings Bank was a Santa Sponsor for Christmas in July and also a sponsor for the Cruise for Kids on the Mount Washington. The bank has also been a Partner of the Day at the December Auction, and it granted the organization $5,000 for branding efforts in 2022.  

Jennifer Prince, the bank’s assistant vice president / marketing and community engagement officer, serves on the Children’s Fund’s Board of Directors. She also served on its Community Engagement Committee for two years, and is now a part of the Communications Committee. 

Prince learned from the fund’s Executive Director Jennifer Kelley that the Christmas in July key sponsorship was available.

“Being a community bank, we’re always looking for opportunities where we can support our communities in a helpful and impactful way,” Prince said of Franklin Saving Bank. “The Children’s Fund has consistently demonstrated its commitment to serving the Greater Lakes Region, which covers the majority of our markets.”

She said the partnership between the bank and the Children’s Fund is one based on mutual appreciation. “We appreciate the impact the fund has on a great number of people, and the leaders of the Children’s Fund are wonderful supporters of the bank. It’s a great partnership,” she said.

Franklin Saving Bank is a community bank, and part of its mission is to be philanthropic, supporting organizations that provide for the most vulnerable community members. 

“When we’re able to support an organization that gives back to the community, everybody wins,” Prince said. 

She added that all levels of staff at Franklin Savings Bank understand the importance of philanthropy. “I have an amazing support system at the bank that understands the importance of giving back, from branch managers to employees to the bank’s leadership. We can make a powerful impact because of the team here at FSB.”

The event the bank is sponsoring, Christmas in July, is one of four key events that support the Children’s Fund; the others are the Children’s Auction, the founding event; Pub Mania; and the Sweepstakes Social, which also takes place on the Mount Washington, at dock. 

This year, Christmas in July will be held on the Mount Washington on July 9.

New this year will be a performance by singer-songwriter Katie Dobbins, and DJ Ghoulay will be providing music along with karaoke and a photo booth. The Powerchords will be greeting guests on the boardwalk with their musical talents.

In the past 44 years, the Children’s Fund has distributed over $10 million to nonprofit organizations in the community.
